NEGOTIATIONS STATEMENT

For the majority of people, most of tonight’s statement will be “old news.” On October 13, following 4 ˝ hours of negotiations, the Great Valley School Board and the Great Valley Education Association negotiations teams reached a tentative agreement on a 5-year contract.
We are pleased to have reached an agreement, which supported the original goals established back in January by our School Board. It is a balanced agreement, which successfully meets the needs of students, teachers, the school board and taxpayers.
Both teams are working jointly to develop the final language of the agreement this week. The GVEA will be holding a membership meeting on Monday, October 25 to ratify the tentative agreement. We have scheduled a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m., at which time the full Board will vote on the tentative agreement. Until that meeting, details of the contract have not been made available. At the School Board Meeting on the 26th, a joint press release by the School Board and the GVEA will be issued sharing the highlights of the agreement. The press release will then be available on the District’s website - www.gvsd.org.
We thank the public for their interest, comments and encouragement as both teams worked through this difficult process of negotiations. We are pleased to have closure to the process and are anxious to refocus our collective energies towards our students.
