SCHOOL WILL BEGIN ON TIME FOR GREAT VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS, DESPITE UNRESOLVED TEACHER CONTRACT
Even though Great Valley School Board and Great Valley Education Association have not yet reached agreement on the terms of a new teacher contract, we would like to reassure the community that the 2004-05 school year will begin on time.
Students and teachers will return to school as scheduled on Monday, Aug. 30th. Teachers have agreed to return to school and work under the terms of the previous contract, which expired on June 30th.
If the teachers’ union should make the decision to go on strike, we will make sure that our community is prepared and knows what to expect. By law, unions are required to give 48 hours notice before going on strike, so we will have adequate time to notify the community and put contingency plans into action.
We are hopeful that both sides will soon return to the negotiation table and resolve outstanding issues, so that the start of our school year will remain a smooth one for students.
